Potehi Puppets were brought to Indonesia by Chinese ethnics from around the 16th century until the mid of 19th century. The origin of the Potehi puppet Fujian, China, where they are known as “Science of palms” as the small puppets consist of wooden heads attached to a cloth pouch which is used to conceal the puppeteer’s hand as he moves the puppets.
